About

Just a Jersey Girl at heart...

My Journey...

As a person whose life’s desire is to help encourage people to be their best, I thought it was time for me to share more about who I am and why I want to be my best, give my best and help you be better! I was born and raised in NJ and although I have lived in Washington, DC for half of my adult life, I am still very much a “Jersey Girl.”

As a child I loved to talk and help others recognize their best gifts. I would describe myself as a woman who is Intuitive, Insightful and Innovative. My passion for creating and helping others is demonstrated in the servant leadership qualities I bring to both the workplace and as an active volunteer in both local and nationally recognized civic organizations.

I love to create, and this childlike spirit drives the passion I have for elevating, growing and designing brands. I know how to ask the right questions, identify opportunities, manage with extreme detail and plan the flawless execution of projects.

My decision to pursue a degree in Business Administration took me to Florida A&M University. After graduation, I started my career in customer service and account management for Verizon Wireless. Recognizing early that I wanted more and realizing my strength as a natural project manager, I landed a role as an Implementation Manger for Electronic Data Systems (EDS). While at EDS, I worked on implementation projects for electronic financial systems processing, payment systems for Visa and MasterCard and joined the project team leading the implementations for the rollout of the Home Banking Product servicing banks and credit unions. While at EDS, I completed my Master’s in Communications from Seton Hall University. My interest in a marketing and communications career was sparked while in a role at US Airways for the Sales Training department. I was hand-picked to manage and write the content for the company’s intranet. I have been excited about communications and technology creating connections and providing information. After the 9/11 tragedy, I found myself again needing to make a transition. After some serious networking, I was offered an opportunity to develop and lead the marketing and public relations strategy for the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) as Director of Public Relations.

My desire to market to consumers landed me a position with the DC Government. I initially moved over to DC Lottery as a Product Manager and was promoted to Chief of Marketing and Advertising. In both roles, I led award-winning advertising campaigns and product promotions, contributed to creating and developing licensed brands, planned consumer events and managed agency-wide special projects during my tenure. Recognizing the need to offer higher ideas, expand my business knowledge, understand global business, I further invested in my education by going for an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus. As of December 2021, I am Director for Marketing and Communications with American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges. This opportunity brought me back to the non-profit space and I am directly impacting the advancement of veterinary medical education.

As I continue to evolve in my career, I want to use my talents to design strategy and create products and campaigns that are invigorating, dynamic and impactful to consumers. I am optimistic that this new decade will be bursting with opportunities to elevate, illuminate and create a new path. I am determined to bloom where I am planted :)

Let’s inspire, elevate and create good work together!

Susan
